| From the south (Wellington, Wairarapa via Haywards) |
| After passing through Otaki you will reach Manakau in about 5-10 mins. The village is on the righthand side of State Highway 1 on the other side of the railway line. The best way to come in, is over the level crossing. As you cross the railway line, keep going straight ahead past the school and the church. The road then bears right and up a small hill. We are at the crest of the rise, on the left. |

| From the north (Palmerston North, Wanganui) |
| If you come through Levin or via the back way from Palmerston North, you will find yourself on State Highway 1 a few kilometres south of Levin. From there keep heading south through Ohau and then you will arrive after 5 mins at Manakau. There is a turn to the left over a level crossing (with safety arms). This is the best way into the village. As you cross the railway line, keep going straight ahead past the school and the church. The road bears right and up a small hill. We are at the crest of the rise, on the left. |
